Meeting to discuss deer hunting at Soldiers Delight
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. today in Owings Mills to discuss a proposed expansion of deer hunting at Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area. The meeting, to be held at New Town High School, 4931 New Town Blvd., will discuss a proposal to add two days of shotgun-only deer hunting at Soldiers Delight on Jan. 20 and 21. The area would be closed to the public during those two days. Officials with the DNR said the expanding deer population is damaging the fragile serpentine ecosystem of the area. Limited bowhunting has been allowed on the property for the past two years, the department said. Information: 410-260-8016.

Safe-driving program appears at two colleges
A multimedia program on the dangers of drunken driving will take place at two Baltimore County college campuses today and tomorrow. The six-hour Save a Life Tour, which includes a drinking-and-driving simulator, will be presented at Towson University's Susquehanna Terrace from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
