Worship will take place in a different location at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009. We will be having a combined church service and picnic at Chesterwood Park. The five United Methodist Churches from this area (Lodge Forest, Dundalk, Patapsco, St. Matthew's and Graceland) will join together for a time of worship and fellowship.
Members of Graceland have been asked to bring side dishes such as Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, Cole Slaw, Pasta Salad, Deviled Eggs, etc. We will have some coolers available to keep items cold. We can always use more coolers if you have one to bring.
In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at Patapsco United Methodist Church on Wise Avenue.
Bring your regular offering evelopes to the service so that contributions go to the appropriate churches. Loose offerings will go toward the cost of the facility. Any extra gifts will be divided among the churches. You may also want to bring a lawn chair to use at the park. There will not be a regular service at Graceland that morning, but the Vacation Bible School Closing Program and Monthly Contemporary Praise Service will take place at Graceland that evening. |

You are invited to join the Graceland United Methodist Youth for a day at
Gunpowder Falls State Park
NEW Date: Saturday, August 15th, 2009
Time: We will meet at the church at 9:30 am to carpool to the park. Directions are included for those who may meet us there.
What we will do: We will picnic, swim, play games, play ball, etc. There are picnic areas near a lifeguarded beach area. There is a playground area close to the beach. There are open areas for throwing a football, playing softball, throwing a Frisbee, etc.
What should you bring: We plan to grill hot dogs and hamburgers for all to enjoy at lunchtime. It would be great if others would bring drinks, snacks, desserts, etc. to pitch in. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel, sand toys, and sunscreen. Bring a football, softball gear, Frisbee, volleyball, card games, etc. You should also bring lawn chairs.
Cost: It is $3.00 per person to enter the park. You must pay again if you leave and reenter the park. There is a concession stand near the beach area.
Directions to Gunpowder Falls State Park: Take Rt. 40 east to Ebenezer Rd. Turn right onto Ebenezer Rd. (the Double-T Diner is on the corner) and follow this road until you enter the park. After driving through the green gates, turn at the first left (The sign for Gunpowder State Park will direct those heading to the beach and picnic areas to make this left). You will proceed to the gates where you pay admission to the park. Follow this road around until you see the tall yellow poles and make the right turn at the poles. Continue past the blue building and park at the beach area. We will pick a spot in the picnic area on the beach side to set up for the day. |
